Imperfect / Impermanent / Incomplete
Muse Gallery 2022
The works exhibited began with a series of photographs that explore the urban architectural spaces that I see when cycling around London. These images led to fifty A4 paintings, layered over the top of the photographs, which in turn developed into larger paintings, knitting and sculptures. The architectural spaces range from famous cultural buildings to unassuming residential structures, commercial tower blocks under construction, derelict spaces and religious ruins. The largest and best preserved English monastic ruins at Castle Acre in Norfolk became the main inspiration for the larger works as well as the ebb and flow of ideas in the exhibition.
